A tessellation is an image that is repeated/copied in order to create another image. To create these photos, I zoomed and cropped onto photos I took and rotated them to by mirrored. I liked how my photos came out. My favorite photo is the fifth one displayed above. I struggled with photoshop; I had to get the hang of it before creating a successful photo. If I had to do it over, I would choose better photos.

After going to the duck pong to take these photos, I learned that the background really matters. I used Mrs. Moncure's handout to decide on these poses which was helpful because it was awkward to try and create our own. On closeup shots, we used the reflector under the model's chin near their stomach to create highlights and shadows. It was useful because it added a glow to their face. Wedding photographers, maternity photographers, family photographers, and event photographers are some positions that use portrait photography. Typically, clients research photographers and go through their galleries or portfolios and hire these photographers for their occasion. The annual salary ranges between $15,000 and $75,000. The typical hourly charge ranges between $10.00 and $50.00 to take someone's portrait photographs. For this project, I brought pancakes, but I didn't think they were as visually appealing as these brownies, which I borrowed from a friend. I used a colorful rag in the background for some of my photos. For the rest, I used a plain white background to contrast the darkness of the brownies. Some things I learned from the food photography videos were that you could use shoe polish to create a dewy effect, glue to thicken, apply sauces with a syringe to make everything look more clean and appetizing, focus matters, and setup matters. I did not find a photographer to mimic for this project. I learned who to properly set up for food photography, to keep the focus by contrasting colors or size, and to use proportion. I learned that most, if not all, fast food businesses use food photography to make their food appear more appetizing. I think some photos were successful, and some were not. I learned that food photography is not my strong spot and I would rather stick to something else; however, I did enjoy the experience and bringing in food.
To create this project, I took several photos of objects around the school that represented the letters in my name. After taking these photos, I cropped them down to a narrow size that would fit the template. I then opened the template and added the photos before adding the black & white filter. I struggled the most with finding photos that I could use to represent the letters in my name. I tried to be creative but I eventually gave up. I was, ultimately, proud of the end result because although it is a bit messy, my project is legible. What I like best about this creation is the nature that came with it; we were to go outside and find letters within nature and the outdoors while exploring our school. I think I could have improved the editing and enhanced my creativity a bit when capturing the photos, but ultimately, I enjoyed this project and my end result.
This photo is of a tree located by our main office. There is balance within the bottom of the tree, where there are rocks located. What makes this photo successful is the fact that the photo is not perfectly proportioned or balanced, but it gives the effect in a way. This photo is of my classmates, Angel and Lorena. I chose this photo for proportion because the positions and locations make them seem very different in size. Angel looks very big and Lorena looks very small due to the contrast in locations and the effect of the shadows. Rhythm shows movement in a photo. This is a photo of my partner tapping her boot in a small, shallow puddle. What makes this photo successful is the evident movement occurring in the water. This is a photo of a lei on a tackle dummy on the football field in the stadium. It emphasizes the analogous colors of the lei. What makes this photo successful is the contrast between the dark, harsh maroon color and the light green, light blue, and white. This photo represents variety. It was taken in the quad, in the dirt area. It integrates many of the principles into the photo. What makes this photo successful is the diversity in it. Harmony is very peaceful to the eye. This photo is personally very peaceful because the flock of birds is together. What makes this photo successful is the peaceful, calming effect given by the photo. This photo represents unity because it ties in various aspects. It is a photo of one of the schools hallways. I like this photo because I got the snack cart in the bottom left corner, just barely showing. The contrast in the darkness in greens in the photo makes this photo a whole, ultimately creating a successful photo. This picture was taken at one of the snack carts near the gym building. The lines of the metal covering leads the viewers eye to the spider web at the end of the line. It is successful because it guides the viewers eye to the spider web at the end of the cart. This photo is of a tree near the administration office. This shot captures the vibrant colors of the leaves. It is successful because it uses analogous colors to show the natural color. This photo was also taken of a leaf of a tree near the administration office. It shows the organic shape of the leaf, ultimately representing nature. It is successful because it shows viewers nature and the beauty of it. This photo was taken near our classroom. I decided to get this shot because it showed the height, width, and depth of these brick-like rocks. It is successful because it shows the three dimensional nature of the subject. This photo was taken on the field of our school stadium. It shows the texture of the grass, allowing viewers to get a glimpse, or feel, of what the camera captured. It is successful because it allows viewers to feel as though they know what the fake grass feels like. This photo was taken of a palm tree at our school. I like it because the tree is so evidently the main focus, with the empty, blue sky being the background, or the negative space. It is successful because it incorporates the negative space with the positive space to ensure the tree is the main subject. This photo represents value because it shows the shadow of the bench. I had no clue what to do for value so I shot the first thing I saw that had a shadow. It can be considered successful because it caught the shadow cast by the bench. |
